Are We Experiencing AI Fatigue?
We’ve all been living with and using AI for quite some time now. What once felt innovative and exciting has quickly become embedded in our daily routines. From drafting emails to customer service interactions, AI is everywhere.
Lately, though, I’ve been hearing a recurring theme: AI fatigue.
People are starting to notice when something is written by AI. The tone, the structure, even the predictability is becoming recognizable. At the same time, we’re seeing AI receptionists, AI-powered help desks, and automated systems replacing what used to be human interactions.
Which raises a simple but important question: Do you feel like you’re being heard?
If you pay attention to advertising trends, there’s an interesting shift happening. Brands are now emphasizing phrases like “made by human hands” or “you’ll speak to a real person who understands.” That messaging exists for a reason.
People are starting to miss human interaction.
You can hear it in everyday moments like when someone is frustrated, repeating “agent” or “customer service” into their phone, just trying to reach a real person. It’s no longer just about efficiency; it’s about connection.
And this doesn’t stop at customer experience. It extends into our own work.
Take a moment and ask yourself:
- When you produce something like an email, a report, a proposal, do you feel ownership of it?
- Are you thinking, “Did I write this, or did AI?”
- More importantly, does it evoke any feeling in you at all?
Because that’s the real issue. Not just productivity, but presence.
So, What Can You Do If You’re Feeling AI Fatigue?
AI isn’t going anywhere, and it shouldn’t. It’s a powerful tool. But like any tool, it needs to be used intentionally.
Here are a few ways to recalibrate:
- Reclaim Your Voice
Use AI as a starting point, not the final product. Edit, refine, and inject your perspective. Your tone, your nuance as that is what makes communication resonate.
- Prioritize Human Moments
When possible, choose conversations over convenience. A quick call, a face-to-face meeting, or even a personalized message can make a lasting impact.
- Be Selective With Automation
Not everything needs to be optimized. Some interactions, especially those involving relationships, are worth the extra time and effort.
- Create, Don’t Just Generate
There’s a difference between producing content and creating something meaningful. Slow down enough to ensure your work reflects thought, intention, and authenticity.
- Pay Attention to How It Feels
If everything starts to feel flat or interchangeable, that’s a signal. Your work should engage you, not just check a box. AI has given us incredible efficiency. But as we continue to integrate it into our lives, the differentiator is becoming clear: Human connection is no longer the default, it’s the value.
So, the question isn’t whether you’re using AI, it’s whether, in the process, you’re still showing up. Let’s chat about how we can help with hiring challenges: cpsg.com
