Five Months Left. Wait, What?
I was talking with a colleague, Danica Edgar yesterday when she said something that stopped us both mid-conversation: “I can’t believe there are only five months left in this year. I feel like I’m just now ready to start my New Year’s resolutions.”
We laughed. Then I thought about it, and I suspect she is not alone.
For a lot of people, this year has been a blur. Time seems to be moving faster, and it feels like we are always trying to catch up. The goals we set in January, whether personal or professional, have a way of sliding into “next quarter” until suddenly next quarter is the last one.
Here is the good news: the calendar is not the boss of you. Five months is a lot of runway.
If one of those January goals was a career move, this is actually an ideal window. Hiring in Sacramento does not pause for summer. Companies are filling roles in Accounting and Finance, IT, HR, and administrative support right now, and many are working to have new team members in place before year-end planning kicks in.
And if you lead a team, the same logic applies. The open role you have been meaning to fill since spring will not get easier to fill in December, when calendars fill up with holidays and budget conversations.
So consider this your friendly midyear reset. Pick one goal from January that still matters, and give it a real deadline. Not “sometime this year.” An actual date.
If that goal involves your next hire or your next role, we would enjoy being part of the conversation. Reach out to the ConnectPoint Search Group team anytime. cpsg.com
